We've been receiving a lot of comments lately asking how the Bet of the Day award works, what we're doing about repeat and boring bets, why we took away the 1000 BluBucks reward for bet creation, and whether we're going to link that to the rating system somehow. We wanted to clarify a few of these points.
On weekdays, we choose 3-4 Bet of the Day awards. One around 10 AM Pacific time, another around 2PM, another around 7PM and another around midnight. We do this because there are so many great bets on the site that it's hard to choose just one, and we want to spread the rewards for winning the Bet of the Day around as much as we can. On the weekends there are generally less good bets to be considered, but we choose 1-2 per day on Saturday and Sunday. And of course, your promotion doesn't end when your bet is taken down, winning the Bet of the Day is usually enough to push it to the top of the HOT page, and a lot of those bets end up on the FEATURED page as well. For anyone who missed it, this is the criteria we use to choose a Bet of the Day.
It is important to keep in mind that BluBet keeps regular business hours in California, so we work mostly Monday-Friday between 9AM and 7PM Pacific time, and most changes, editing, and responses will be happening during those hours.
It is inevitable because of the hours we keep that some bets will go overlooked, and some may end up being featured longer than others. We try to make sure that all the best bets get their time in the spotlight either on the FEATURED page or through the Bet of the Day award, but sometimes more great bets are created in a day than we can feature. Other days there aren't nearly as many great bets, so we have to create a few ourselves.
We eliminated the 1000 BluBucks reward for creating a new bet to cut down on nonsensical or repeat bets that were created only for the reward. But some users, old and new alike, have rightly pointed out that it is unfair to them that they receive nothing for all the hard work they put into bet creation. So we have decided that anyone with a BetStar award will continue to receive the 1000 BluBucks reward for each new bet they create, however if we feel any user is abusing this system, we will revoke their BetStar award. And if you've forgotten, BetStar is a special award given to any user who has created more than 10 bets with more than 10 players each.
